A free alternative to Feed Doctor for feed checks

Feed Doctor is a Shopify app that diagnoses Merchant Center issues, connects your account for the real disapprovals, and applies reviewed fixes in admin, from $9.99 a month. Shipwork is a free, no-install check that reads your public catalogue and a feed file, and watches for changes.

One crawl of a bounded sample of public pages, from outside your network. Nothing is stored.

What Feed Doctor does well

Feed Doctor connects to your Merchant Center account to read the actual disapprovals Google reports, explains each one, and applies reviewed fixes to products inside Shopify admin. If you want the app to fix things for you on Shopify, that is the tool, and it does something a read-only checker cannot.

Where a Shopify-only app stops

It is Shopify-only, so a WooCommerce, Wix or custom store cannot use it. It needs an install and a subscription. And because it reads your store from the Shopify side, it does not show what an outside crawler actually receives — the block or 500 that a bot gets while your browser sees a perfect page.

What Shipwork does instead

  • Free and no install, on any platform, not just Shopify.
  • A feed-file check for GTIN, google_product_category, condition and identifier_exists — the fields a public catalogue hides.
  • Outside-network checks: reachability, AI crawler access, TLS, DNS and Merchant Center disapprovals (read-only connection).
  • A daily watch that records the day a check changes.

Which should you use?

Use Feed Doctor if you want in-admin fixes and a Merchant Center connection on Shopify. Use Shipwork for a free, any-platform first pass, to validate a feed file, and to watch a store over time.

Questions

Is Shipwork a replacement for Feed Doctor?
No. Feed Doctor applies fixes inside Shopify admin; Shipwork is a free, read-only checker on any platform.
Does it connect to Merchant Center?
There is a read-only Merchant Center connection, so it can read real disapprovals. It never changes your account.
Is it free?
The checks are free and need no account. The daily watch is the paid part.
