Are products silently out of stock while still advertised?
A bestseller that sells out but stays in the feed, or a page marked OutOfStock while the feed says in stock, gets preemptive disapproval. Availability is the fastest-moving thing that breaks a catalogue.
Reads your public catalogue and product markup. Availability changes hourly, which is why the watch exists. Nothing is stored.
How this check works
Shipwork reads your public catalogue where the platform exposes one, and the availability in your product page markup, then flags products that are fully out of stock and pages that declare OutOfStock. Because availability changes constantly, a snapshot is only true today.
Questions
- Why does availability matter so much?
- A feed that disagrees with the page on stock triggers preemptive disapproval, and sold-out items lose placement. It is the most volatile field in a catalogue.
- How often should I check?
- Availability changes hourly. A daily watch that records changes is the only reliable way to catch it.
- Does this work without a public product feed?
- Catalogue checks need a public product list (Shopify and WooCommerce expose one). The markup side works on any platform that marks up availability.
